Our Commitment to You

Founders Scott and Megan Reamer started Jackson’s to help their son, Jackson, after he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder. They discovered that a low-inflammation diet rich in healthy fats significantly reduced his symptoms. What began as a loving effort to improve his quality of life evolved into a national snack brand.

Jackson's uses authentic avocado oil because it helped Jackson. To honor that origin, every single batch of oil is rigorously tested for authenticity before production. This ensures maximum quality, resulting in a delicious snack the entire family can enjoy.

How We Verify the Authenticity of Our Avocado Oil

For a premium avocado oil snack-maker like Jackson’s, the quality of the finished product starts with the integrity of the avocado oil. That is why our process is built around a simple promise: we only buy avocado oil from suppliers who can consistently demonstrate that their oil meets our high standards.

Our Authenticity Requirements

We partner with Eurofins, a global leader in food authenticity testing known for its extensive databases, chemometric expertise, numerous accreditations, and leadership in developing international methods.

This partnership allows Jackson’s to verify that the oil we use in our snacks meets rigorous standards. This independent, analytical laboratory tests oil samples against its authenticity reference database. The oil we buy is tested and must fall in line with the laboratory’s reference standard for authentic avocado oil - then we verify it again later in the process.

Our Multi-point Verification Process

We use a comprehensive three-step process to ensure that avocado oil in our snacks meets the Eurofins’ reference authenticity specification.

Step 1: We scrutinize suppliers before we buy

Before we agree to purchase avocado oil from any supplier, we critically review the supplier’s documentation, sourcing controls, production practices, and traceability protocols. The potential supplier must provide us with traceability documentation, a Certificate of Analysis, and an oil sample, which we then send to Eurofins for analysis.

Step 2: A third-party lab verifies authenticity

Eurofins sends us its analysis of the initial oil sample; if it aligns with the laboratory’s reference database for authentic avocado oil, we approve the supplier. This benchmark becomes the reference point for future deliveries. It establishes an authenticity specification that all oil from that supplier must meet before it ever enters our production process.

Step 3: Every batch is tested and must meet our standards

The initial benchmarking and approval are only the beginning. From that point forward, every batch of avocado oil that arrives at our facility is tested to confirm that it is consistent with the specification that was authenticated by the lab. We use Raman spectroscopy, a laser-based testing method, to measure and compare each batch with the approved specification in real time - before the oil is used in our facility.

Although it’s never happened, if a batch ever does not meet our expectations, it will be rejected on the spot – no waiting days or weeks for test results. Only oil that is within the approved authenticity specification is received and used to make our delicious snacks.

Why Our Verification Process Matters

Our multi-point verification process ensures our avocado oil is authentic and helps guarantee that every bag of Jackson’s snacks is made with avocado oil we trust, and you enjoy. By holding suppliers to initial sampling and analysis, then testing every batch against the Eurofins authenticity reference levels, we’ve created a disciplined system that supports consistency, transparency, and confidence in the avocado oil we use.

A Closed Supply Chain

Even the best verification process relies on strict supply chain control. Unlike most snack makers, Jackson’s controls the two most critical stages: importing and manufacturing. We eliminate extra steps in the supply chain where oil adulteration could occur by manufacturing everything in-house and sourcing directly from European avocado oil producers (in Italy and Spain) who are subject to EU food safety and quality standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I know about the 2026 UC Davis avocado oil study?

The 2026 UC Davis study measures purity against a single benchmark, without accounting for the fact that avocado oil —like olive oil — comes in different grades suited to different uses. For example, oil extracted at home by mashing, heating, and straining avocados may not meet the study's standard, even though it's undeniably pure avocado oil.

Additionally, avocado oil standards for the UC Davis study were sourced from California and Mexico, and did not take into account regional compositional differences that occur with avocado oil from places like Europe, South East Asia, or other emerging avocado-growing regions.  Finally, processing differences for the avocado oil used to produce Jackson’s chips were not accounted for; these types of differences are well known to impact the compositional makeup of the avocado oil.

How does Jackson’s verify the authenticity of its avocado oil?

We verify our avocado oil's authenticity through a three-step process built around an independent partnership with Eurofins, a global leader in food authenticity testing. Eurofins tests our oil samples against its authenticity reference database, and the oil must match the reference standard for genuine avocado oil at two separate points in our verification process before it's approved for use.

How does Jackson’s protect the integrity of its supply chain?

Unlike most snack makers, Jackson’s controls the two most critical stages in the supply chain: importing and manufacturing. By sourcing directly from oil producers and manufacturing everything in-house, we eliminate extra steps in the supply chain where oil adulteration could occur.
